So although David Chiang is a kung-fu film veteran, it's no wonder that in The Shaolin Mantis, where he plays a man who learns martial arts from a praying mantis then seeks revenge for his wife's death, the movie features some of his best kung-fu fights to date.

The scandal arouses the sense of justice of the young cop played by Danny Li (aka Li Hsiu-hsien), and the movie went on to become a top ten box office hit in 1977.

He even played the villain himself. The result was more Liang magic, with an honorable message of righteousness that rings true through the decades.

Much wackiness ensues with a bizarre game of mahjong with a robot, a band of ninjas who hunt and chase our heroes and director Wong himself showing up as the detectives' cranky boss.
