There Was A Father (1942) Director: Yasujiro Ozu Cast: Takeshi Sakamoto, Nobuko Fushimi, Den Obinata, Chouko Iida Synopsis One of the most private of Ozu's films, "There Was A Father" is a resemblance of his early work, "The Only Son". His son grew up to follow his footsteps and become a teacher, but all he wants is to live with his father again. When the son finally has a chance to live with his age-old father, his father falls critically ill.
