Synopsis
A juxtaposition of three short fictions from Pu Songling (1640-1715)'s The Liao Zhai Collection of Chinese Ghost Stories, Fairy, Ghost, Vixen is arguably the first ancient costume Mandarin production in its form. The three stories are adapted by famous playwrights Wang Zhibo, Wang Liuzhao and Yi Wen (Evan Yang), and are directed by Tang Huang, who manages to balance their unique characteristics and the entirety of the film. To the jealousy of many, Tang Qing plays the male lead in three stories, having a love affair with the vixen (Bai Bing), the ghost (Zhang Huixian) and the fairy (Chen Fang). Also noteworthy is the outstanding performance of Mo Chou, who plays a villain vixen that seduces Tang Qing in a sexy and tempting outfit.
